As one of three finalists in the Community Stars Award ceremony at the Bradford Hotel, we are delighted to announce that our Care Ambassador “Margaret Malik” has won NEIGHBOUR OF THE YEAR.
The special award ceremony, organised by the Telegraph & Argus and Bradford Council, recognises the district’s unsung heroes who go above and beyond to help others.
From young people already changing lives to volunteers with hearts of gold, it is a celebration of the very best of Bradford. These are the people who reach out to the city’s most vulnerable citizens, going the extra mile for their community.
Margaret’s nominator said: “At 82 she walks everywhere rain or shine; Margaret works with Care Dynamics Yorkshire caring for the vulnerable and cleaning. In between working she looks after her grandchildren, runs a launderette, manages her tenancies, shops for others, saves animals and takes in stray cats – she’s like the local RSPCA. She feeds the foxes every night without fail.”
Margaret attended the awards ceremony with her daughter and granddaughter. As usual, Margaret was both surprised and humble but we are delighted that she has received yet another amazing acknowledgment of her lifetime’s work.
